LICENSING

 

  • License: Per-user basis.

 

A “user” is an individual who directly accesses the content or creates reports/output based on the data. Enter the correct user count as the quantity when ordering. If you are the only person who accesses the data, enter one (1) in the order quantity. If you and the billing manager access the data, that would be two (2) users, etc.

  • CPT 2026 Data Content License Agreement

    Practice Management Information Corporation (PMIC) has been an authorized distributor of AMA CPT content since 1989 for print, digital and data content. 

    Your purchase is for the CPT 2026 Data Content (referred to as the PRODUCT) on a per-user basis.

    1. What Counts as a "User"?

    A User is any individual who interacts with the CPT Data Content by:

    • Directly viewing or using the content (on a computer, network, or web).
    • Creating a report, file, or other output that relies on the content, even if the content isn't visible in the final output.

    Purchasing Information

    • When ordering, please enter the total number of Users in the quantity field.

    • This specific license is intended for providers, clinics, billing companies, government organizations, and payers other than hospitals and health plans.

    Your Agreement

    Before completing your purchase, installation, or use of the CPT 2026 Data Content [PRODUCT], please read all terms below.

    By downloading, installing, or using the PRODUCT, you agree to these terms and conditions. If you do not agree, do not download, install, or use the PRODUCT.

    2. Grant of License (Your Rights)
    • Single Computer Use: You have a non-exclusive right to use the PRODUCT on a single computer for each license (User) you purchase.
    • Prohibited Actions: You may not
      • Reproduce the PRODUCT in whole or in part.
      • Electronically transfer it across a network from one computer to another.
      • Distribute copies of the program or documentation to others.
    3. Copyright and Ownership
    • AMA Ownership: The CPT five-digit codes and descriptions are copyrighted by the American Medical Association (AMA).
    4. AMA Disclaimer of Liability

    The AMA does not practice medicine or dispense medical services. The AMA disclaims all liability for the data contained in the PRODUCT and any results, decisions, or judgments made from using this data.

    In summary, the AMA is not responsible for:

    • Any damages, including lost profits or lost savings, arising from your use or inability to use the data.
    • Warranting that the data will meet your specific requirements or that the PRODUCT will operate without interruption or error.
    5. U.S. Government Use

    This PRODUCT contains CPT, which is commercial technical data and/or software developed exclusively at private expense by the AMA. U.S. Government use is subject to specific limitations and restrictions defined in DFARS 252.227-7015, DFARS 227.7202, FAR 52.227-14, and FAR 52.227-19.

    6. Limited Warranty (PMIC)
    • "As Is" Basis: The program is provided "as is" without other warranties.
    • Media Warranty: PMIC warrants to the original licensee that the physical disk (if applicable) will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for 90 days from the date of delivery (evidenced by your receipt).
    • Disclaimer: PMIC does not warrant that the PRODUCT will meet your specific needs or that its use will be uninterrupted or error-free.
    • Liability Limit: PMIC will not be liable for any special, incidental, indirect, or consequential damages, including lost profits.
    • Our Fix: If you notify us of a defect or error within the warranty period, PMIC will make reasonable efforts to correct the defect or provide a replacement within a reasonable time.
    7. Compliance and Termination
    • Immediate Termination: If you fail to comply with any part of this agreement, your license will automatically and immediately terminate, which may result in legal action.
    • Required Return: Upon termination, you agree to immediately:
      • Return all copies of the original PRODUCT and any copies you made to PMIC.
      • Remove all copies saved on any computer or network.
    • Litigation Costs: If PMIC is forced to litigate regarding this agreement, the PRODUCT, or documentation, you agree to reimburse PMIC for all costs incurred in connection with the litigation, including the collection of damages.
    8. Governing Law

    This agreement is governed and enforced by the laws of the State of California. Any legal action will be subject to the jurisdiction of California courts.
